Description
In Spain, a collaboration between UPC (Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya) and Estel SL. (private company) made it possible to combine the prescription maps obtained through Dosaviña with the Waatic tool and develop an automatic variable application system. This system works based on the characteristics of the vegetation and the spraying equipment. It allows more efficient application of plant protection products in vineyards. Waatic is wirelessly connected to an electronic box installed on the sprayer. The system determines the position of the sprayer in the field and determines the application volume prescribed by the map. The system automatically modifies the settings of the sprayer to obtain the predefined volume. During the application, the system saves the information and generates a real application map. Using a software, Waatic allows the user to see data remotely in real time as well as to analyse the applications posteriori. This collaboration was set up thanks to the Gophytovid project (www.gophytovid.es), financed by the Operational Groups programme of the Ministry of Agriculture, in which Spanish wineries such as Jean Leon, Viñas del Vero and Martín Códax participated.
