In greenhouses, plant protection products are generally applied using spray lances and spray guns, a practice that is labor-intensive and unsafe because of high operator exposure. This study determined to what degree the exposure can be reduced by using innovative spray application techniques and how these techniques can contribute to increased work efficiency by comparing them with traditional handheld spray application techniques under field conditions in peppers and tomatoes in Almeria and Crete.
The aim of this study is to investigate to what extent the exposure of the user of plant protection products in greenhouses in southern Europe can be reduced by using innovative spraying techniques, and how these new techniques can contribute to better work efficiency.
