For the application of plant protection products (PPPs), ornamental growers predominantly use handheld sprayers at high spray pressures and volumes, which can result in high risks for the user and the environment, a non-uniform distribution of spray liquid in the crop and high labor costs. There is a need for information about more efficient application techniques such as spray boom systems. The aim of this project was to study the efficiency of spray boom systems in horticulture compared to traditional techniques, using deposition tests under lab and field conditions.

Objectives

The main objective of this project was to achieve an improved, homogeneous penetration and deposition of plant protection products in ornamental plants with a view to improving biological efficiency.
